Joburgers are renowned for their love of red meat, but now there's a good reason to travel into Bull territory with the opening of Karoo, from the TH Restaurants stable. The dècor is trendy, with black Cobra-polished wall finishing’s, large glass doors and windows, plus heavy leather chair and booth seating. Best view in the house is from the balcony: serendipitously, there's an enormous tongue-in-check sculpture of half a belly-up cow - perky udder and paws failing wildly - outside the venue.
Karoo knows its meat: extra-large steaks and full racks of ribs for larger appetites, bobotie, pies, boereworse, and chicken. Side dishes include chips, baked potato, vegetables and onion rings. There's also a salad buffet with a variety of salads which you can have for free if you buy a main course. Kids can eat selected items on offer at half price.
Dessert is lekker South African; malva pudding, jelly and custard and tipsy tart. Karoo also opens for breakfast.
If you prefer to cook your meet at home they also sell a range of well matured products.
